MARIO SOS

--------

ABANDONMENT

I've felt the weight of cold weather
Soaking into cotton. The concrete, the years
How they all reflect in the marble eyes
Cracked, tied to a single thread.

The footpath
Dressed in glitters of the moon;
Leaves smothered with drops of kisses
And a charcoal of constellations-

But the bare skin
Knows it all. Two stained paws
Remain of four arms that once
Closed in to the beat of two hearts.

Before the aftermath
Of letting go, I felt chills
Slide as through furry skin
And the final pinch of warmth
That only innocence gives.

I remembered for a moment
Those fingers, the chills,
As they loosened their grip.

I know the taste of the moon.
I've kissed its concrete reflection.
