RAINING AGAIN
This city man,
It's like Gotham,
It's the summer at 11.30am and yet it's dark
And raining in Amazonian proportions
It still doesn't stop the open top city-seeing tour bus
Fools in cagoules soaking wet and looking at passing buildings
While the driver narrates from his dry warmth downstairs
I'm stood, perfectly dry
under an umbrella with a feeling of serenity
as the rain beats down harder an harder
Girls with ruined soaked hairstyles go by in the dozens,
Expensive shoes are ruined as they lose their shape forever,
Traffic cops issue tickets in their hundreds to people who
"just parked on the yellow lines for one moment to nip somewhere"
Water has caused panic and anger
"Its only liquid" folks I say to myself
we spent nine months in it before we're born
we can't live without
and yet hate it and
avaoid it at all costs.
