PAUL ORATOFSKY was born and raised in Brooklyn. He lived in London, Morocco, Camden, Maine, and for the past 22 years in Manhattan. He's been working in the arts, mainly with language, since he was 11 years old. He designed computer software systems for about 24 years, each system amounting to the designing of a language to suit a specific environment and situation. For the past 12 years he's been a B&W photographer. His writing has mostly been an exploring and playing with language in its purest form, i.e., as an abstract entity, downplaying its sense or semantic side, and upplaying its phatic or emotional & sensual side. He almost exclusively writes poems and very short (roughly one page long) prose pieces, and has been doing this for the past 50 or so years.
