MEL KENNE lives in Istanbul, Turkey, where he teaches in the American Literature and Culture Department at Kadir Has University. Three books of his poetry have been published, one of which, South Wind, won the 1984 Austin Book Award. He also wrote the poetry for The Book of Ed, a poetic/musical/dramatic compact disk based loosely on the myth of Oedipus. Working with Saliha Paker, he translated into English the novel Dear Shameless Death, by the Turkish writer Latife Tekin. It was published in 2001 by Marion Boyars Press. Kenne's poems and his translations of poems by Turkish poets have appeared in many magazines in America and Turkey.
